Federal awards for nine projects

U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito announced nine federal awards through the U.S. Small Business Administration for projects across West Virginia. Capito requested the money through congressionally directed spending for fiscal 2026.

The projects address aviation training, business assistance, agricultural marketing, child care and industrial development. They include work in Charleston, Beckley, Hurricane, Logan, Man and Morgantown.

Where the money will go

Marshall University’s Aviation Program in Charleston will receive for training tools and equipment intended to expand its capacity.

The Capital Area Development Corporation of West Virginia and Charleston Area Alliance will receive to renovate Charleston’s historic Small Business Incubator and Business Hub. The facility serves entrepreneurs and small businesses in Kanawha County and downtown Charleston.

The New River Gorge Regional Development Authority in Beckley will receive to develop a child care model involving employers and shared subsidies. WV Hive Network Inc., also in Beckley, will receive to help entrepreneurs with legal structure, marketing, accounting, websites and business planning.

The West Virginia Food and Farm Coalition will receive to help agricultural producers and small businesses bring value-added products to market. The Putnam County Development Authority will receive for ready-to-use industrial space in the Hurricane area.

The Hatfield McCoy Convention and Visitors Bureau will receive to support small-business formation and growth in Logan and Man. West Virginia Women Work Inc. Will receive for worker recruitment and training. The West Virginia Department of Agriculture will receive for agribusiness marketing, resources, workshops and events tied to domestic and international markets.
