Elon poll finds support for all three N.C. amendments

All three constitutional amendments before North Carolina voters were favored by likely voters in an Elon University Poll released Thursday. The result puts each of the three ballot questions on the favorable side of opinion among the likely voters surveyed.

The poll is a snapshot of voter sentiment ahead of Election 2026, not a tally of ballots. Its findings reflect the poll’s likely-voter group and should not be treated as the view of every registered voter or every North Carolina resident.

The survey finding also does not decide whether any proposed amendment becomes part of the state constitution. That decision rests with voters when they cast ballots on the three questions.

Three separate ballot decisions

North Carolina voters will consider each constitutional amendment as a separate question. A voter’s choice on one amendment does not determine that voter’s choices on the other two, even though the Elon poll found all three were favored.

The poll establishes the same broad starting point for each proposal: likely voters surveyed expressed favorable views. Final election results will show how support translates into actual votes for each amendment.

The next steps in the process include the presentation of the amendment questions to voters and the counting and certification of ballots. Until that process is complete, the poll offers a measure of opinion rather than an election outcome.
