Offices on the 2026 ballot

California’s general election is scheduled for Nov. 3, 2026. All 52 of the state’s U.S. House districts are up for election, alongside statewide offices including governor, secretary of state, lieutenant governor and attorney general.

The NBC News California election page highlights Congressional District 22 among the House contests. It also directs voters to separate pages for the primary contests that determine which candidates advance to the general election.

Candidates in highlighted races

In Congressional District 22, Democrat Randy Villegas and Republican David Valadao are listed as the candidates.

In the governor’s race, Democrat Xavier Becerra and Republican Steve Hilton are listed as the candidates. In the secretary of state contest, Democrat Shirley Weber and Republican Donald Wagner are listed.

The lieutenant governor’s race lists Democrat Fiona Ma and Republican Gloria Romero. The attorney general’s race lists Democrat Rob Bonta and Republican Michael Gates.

Current officeholders and voting history

California’s current statewide officeholders include Gov. Gavin Newsom, Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis, Secretary of State Shirley Weber and Attorney General Rob Bonta, all Democrats. The state’s two U.S. senators are Democrats Alex Padilla and Adam Schiff.
