Houston-area postpartum center agrees to cease operations

Agreement announced

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced Friday that De'Ai Postpartum Care Center, a Houston-area business, agreed to permanently cease operations. The agreement came after Texas filed a lawsuit containing accusations against the center.

Paxton described the end of operations as permanent, rather than a temporary suspension. The announcement identifies the business’s agreement to stop operating as the central development following the lawsuit.

The Daily Wire visited the business earlier this year. That visit occurred before Paxton announced the agreement Friday and placed the center in public coverage before the state disclosed the development.

The wording of the announcement draws an important distinction: De'Ai agreed to cease operations. It was not described merely as a request from the attorney general or as a temporary pause by the business.

Legal process

The lawsuit and the agreement represent different steps. Texas brought the legal action against the center, and De'Ai subsequently agreed to the permanent operational change announced by Paxton.
