Voting is underway

Campaigns are making their final appeals before Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 3, as early voting continues across the country. Millions of voters have already cast ballots.

All 435 House seats are on the ballot. The CBS News Battleground Tracker estimates that Democrats have an edge in the contest for House control. Voters will also decide 35 Senate seats. Closely contested Senate races from Alaska to Maine could determine which party controls that chamber.

Trump and Obama hold rallies

President Donald Trump traveled to Ohio on Wednesday as part of a series of campaign stops. He urged supporters to act as though he were on the ballot. Trump campaigned for Republican Sen. Jon Husted and Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. Former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown is seeking to return to Congress in Ohio.

Trump also defended his handling of the war with Iran and said he expected to end it very quickly.

Former President Barack Obama held a rally in Georgia at the same time. Obama criticized Trump and said higher prices have made eating out harder to afford for many people. The appearances showed current and former presidents taking active roles in the closing days, even though neither Trump nor Obama is a candidate in the midterm election.

What to watch
