Statewide races

Nebraska voters will elect a governor, secretary of state and attorney general on Nov. 3, alongside members of Congress.

In the governor’s race, Democrat Lynne Walz faces incumbent Republican Jim Pillen. Walz is seeking the office, while Pillen is running for another term.

For secretary of state, Democrat Sarah Slattery faces Republican Scott Petersen. The current secretary of state is Republican Robert Evnen.

In the attorney general contest, Democrat Jocelyn Brasher faces incumbent Republican Mike Hilgers. Brasher is seeking the office, while Hilgers is running for another term.

NBC News lists Pillen and Hilgers as incumbents. It identifies the governor’s contest as favoring Republicans but does not apply a similar rating to the secretary of state or attorney general contests.

U.S. House elections

All three Nebraska seats in the U.S. House are up for election in 2026. The highlighted contest is the 2nd Congressional District, where Democrat Denise Powell faces Republican Brinker Harding. NBC News rates the district as favoring Democrats.

Nebraska’s current House members are Republicans Mike Flood in District 1, Don Bacon in District 2 and Adrian Smith in District 3. Nebraska’s sitting U.S. senators are Republicans Deb Fischer and Pete Ricketts.

Nebraska’s presidential voting history

Republican presidential candidates received 59.9% of Nebraska’s vote in 2016, 58.2% in 2020 and 59.3% in 2024. Democratic candidates received 34.4% in 2016, 39.2% in 2020 and 38.9% in 2024.

Donald Trump carried Nebraska by 20.5 percentage points in 2024. Nebraska had five electoral votes in that election.
