Susie Wiles says she is cancer-free after procedure

White House chief of staff Susie Wiles underwent a medical procedure at the Mayo Clinic earlier in the week related to her breast cancer diagnosis, CBS News reported.

Wiles wrote on X on Sept. 16, “I am cancer free.” CBS News reported that she returned to White House duties soon after the procedure, including making calls and leading meetings. The White House did not immediately explain why Wiles received care at a medical facility outside the Washington, D.C., area.

Wiles remains the White House chief of staff, a position that includes overseeing staff and helping manage the president’s schedule and priorities.

Diagnosis and recent work

Wiles disclosed in March that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. In her statement at the time, she noted that about one in eight women receive the diagnosis and said she intended to continue working while undergoing care.

President Donald Trump said after her diagnosis that Wiles had a strong medical team and an excellent prognosis. Wiles traveled with Trump to Dallas the week before her procedure for the Republican midterm convention, according to an Air Force One passenger manifest released by the White House.

Before joining the administration, Wiles managed Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign and worked for years as a political consultant in Florida. She is the daughter of the late football broadcaster Pat Summerall.
