Green led Idaho’s land-grant university through a multimillion-dollar deficit, the COVID-19 pandemic and the killings of four University of Idaho students. His presidency also included broader institutional change leading into the current strategic plan.

Green brought a background in finance, operations and administration to the office. He is a certified public accountant and previously held leadership roles at global law firms, including chief executive at Pepper Hamilton, executive director at WilmerHale, and chief operating and financial officer at Hogan Lovells.

An alumnus returns to lead

Green was born in Moscow before his family moved to Boise. He graduated from Boise High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Idaho in 1984.

After graduation, Green worked for Boise Cascade Corporation and later earned a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School in 1989. Before returning to the university as president, he oversaw international operations, technology, finance and other functions involving more than 3,000 employees across more than 30 countries at Hogan Lovells.
