Attorney general seeks more review time

Virginia’s attorney general has asked the State Corporation Commission to extend its review of the proposed merger involving Dominion and NextEra. The request concerns how long the commission will continue examining the transaction. It does not decide whether the merger may proceed.

Because the deal remains proposed, the commission’s review is still part of the process before any final outcome. The request puts a scheduling question before the SCC: whether to allow additional time for that examination. The SCC, not the attorney general, must act on the requested extension.

What the request means
