  • Primary contests will set the general-election fields.
  • Maryland backed Democrats in the past three presidential elections.

Maryland voters will decide races for governor, attorney general and all eight U.S. House seats in the Nov. 3, 2026, general election. NBC’s election page lists two candidates in each statewide race: Democratic incumbent Wes Moore and Republican Dan Cox for governor, and Democratic incumbent Anthony G. Brown and Republican James Rutledge for attorney general.

The page also identifies Maryland’s current U.S. senators as Democrats Angela Alsobrooks and Chris Van Hollen. It does not list a Senate contest among the state’s 2026 races.

Maryland’s U.S. House seats

All eight congressional districts are up for election, as U.S. House members serve two-year terms. The current delegation consists of Republican Andy Harris in District 1 and Democrats Johnny Olszewski in District 2, Sarah Elfreth in District 3, Glenn Ivey in District 4, Steny Hoyer in District 5, April Delaney in District 6, Kweisi Mfume in District 7 and Jamie Raskin in District 8.

Primary contests will determine which candidates advance to the general election. The statewide and congressional fields may be shaped by those results before voters make their final choices in November.

Maryland’s recent presidential vote

Maryland supported the Democratic presidential nominee in each election from 2016 through 2024. Democrats received 61.3% of the state vote in 2016, 65.4% in 2020 and 62.6% in 2024. Republicans received 34.5%, 32.2% and 34.1%, respectively.

In 2024, Kamala Harris carried Maryland by 28.5 percentage points over Donald Trump. That presidential history describes past statewide voting and does not determine the outcome of individual 2026 contests.
