What Minnesota voters will decide in the 2026 election

Statewide contests

Minnesota’s 2026 general election is scheduled for Nov. 3. Voters will fill one of the state’s two U.S. Senate seats for a six-year term, elect all eight U.S. House members and decide four statewide contests.

The NBC News election overview lists Democrat Peggy Flanagan and Republican Michele Tafoya for U.S. Senate. It lists Democrat Amy Klobuchar and Republican Lisa Demuth for governor, Democrat Steve Simon and Republican Tad Jude for secretary of state, and Democrat Keith Ellison and Republican Ronald Schutz for attorney general.

Minnesota’s U.S. House seats

Every Minnesota congressional district is on the ballot because U.S. House elections take place every two years. The current delegation is evenly divided between four Democrats and four Republicans.

The current representatives are Brad Finstad in District 1, Angie Craig in District 2, Kelly Morrison in District 3, Betty McCollum in District 4, Ilhan Omar in District 5, Tom Emmer in District 6, Michelle Fischbach in District 7 and Pete Stauber in District 8.

Recent presidential results

Minnesota supported the Democratic presidential nominee in each of the past three elections. In 2016, the Democratic candidate received 46.9% and the Republican candidate received 45.3%. The respective shares were 52.4% and 45.3% in 2020.

In 2024, Kamala Harris received 50.9% in Minnesota, while Donald Trump received 46.7%. That was a 4.2-point margin for Harris. Minnesota had 10 electoral votes in that election.
