What to know about Delaware’s 2026 elections

Delaware voters will choose a U.S. senator, the state’s U.S. House member and an attorney general in the Nov. 3, 2026, election. The Senate winner will serve a six-year term, while U.S. House members are elected every two years.

Chris Coons is listed as the Democratic incumbent in the Senate race. Michael Katz is listed as the Republican candidate. In the attorney general contest, incumbent Kathy Jennings is listed as a Democrat.

Delaware has one U.S. House district. Democrat Sarah McBride is the current House member, according to the NBC News Delaware election overview.

Delaware’s presidential voting history

Democratic presidential nominees received a majority of Delaware’s vote in each of the past three presidential elections. In 2024, Kamala Harris received 56.5% and Donald Trump received 41.8%, a margin of 14.7 percentage points.

The Democratic share was 58.8% in 2020, compared with 39.8% for the Republican nominee. In 2016, the Democratic nominee received 53.4% and the Republican nominee received 41.9%.

Those presidential results describe how Delaware voted in statewide presidential contests; they do not decide the separate congressional and state races on the 2026 ballot.

Delaware’s two current U.S. senators are Democrats Chris Coons and Lisa Blunt Rochester. The statewide officeholder list also identifies Matt Meyer as governor, Kyle Evans Gay as lieutenant governor, Charuni Patibanda-Sanchez as secretary of state and Kathy Jennings as attorney general. Each is listed as a Democrat.
