What to know about Wyoming’s 2026 elections

Key races

Wyoming voters will choose a U.S. senator, governor, secretary of state and U.S. House member on Nov. 3, 2026. The Senate winner will serve a six-year term.

The U.S. Senate contest lists Democrat James Byrd and Republican Harriet Hageman. The governor’s race lists Democrat Kenneth Casner and Republican Eric Barlow. The secretary of state race lists Democrat Bryan McCarty and Republican Robert Short.

Wyoming’s single U.S. House district is also up for election as part of the regular two-year House cycle. The House member represents the entire state in Congress.

Offices on the ballot

Republicans currently hold both of Wyoming’s U.S. Senate seats, as well as the offices of governor, secretary of state and U.S. representative. The Senate election will fill one of the state’s two seats, while the House election covers statewide District 1.

The governor and secretary of state are elected statewide. These contests appear on the same general-election ballot as the congressional races.

Wyoming’s presidential vote history

Wyoming backed the Republican presidential nominee in each of the past three presidential elections. The Republican share was 70.1% in 2016, 69.9% in 2020 and 71.6% in 2024. The Democratic share was 22.5% in 2016, 26.6% in 2020 and 25.8% in 2024.

In 2024, Donald Trump finished 45.8 percentage points ahead of Kamala Harris in Wyoming, the largest Trump margin among the 50 states. Trump received 71.6% and Harris received 25.8%, with Wyoming awarding three electoral votes. Those figures describe presidential voting and are separate from the choices voters will make in the 2026 contests.
