2026 New Jersey elections: Senate and House races

Federal races

New Jersey voters will decide a statewide U.S. Senate contest and elections in all 12 U.S. House districts on Nov. 3, 2026. The Senate seat carries a six-year term. The NBC News election overview lists Democrat Cory Booker and Republican Justin Murphy in that contest.

In the House, District 7 is among the races highlighted on the statewide overview. The listed candidates there are Democrat Rebecca Bennett and Republican Thomas Kean Jr. Voters in the other 11 districts will also elect representatives because every House seat is on the ballot every two years. The current 12-member House delegation includes Democrats and Republicans.

Recent presidential voting history

New Jersey supported the Democratic presidential nominee in 2016, 2020 and 2024. In 2016, Democrats received 55.5% of the statewide presidential vote and Republicans received 41.4%. In 2020, the shares were 57.3% for Democrats and 41.4% for Republicans. In 2024, they were 51.8% and 45.9%, respectively.

Kamala Harris carried New Jersey in 2024 by 5.9 percentage points and received the state’s 14 electoral votes. That margin ranked 16th among her state margins. The presidential figures offer context for the electorate, but the 2026 ballot concerns Senate and House offices rather than the presidency. Past presidential results do not determine the outcome of those contests.
