The statewide race

New Jersey voters will choose a U.S. senator and representatives in all 12 congressional districts on Nov. 3, 2026. The Senate winner will serve a six-year term in one of the state’s two seats.

The NBC News election page lists Democratic incumbent Cory Booker and Republican Justin Murphy in the Senate race. Booker is seeking to continue serving in the seat, while Murphy is seeking to take the seat.

All 12 of New Jersey’s U.S. House districts are also holding elections. House members serve two-year terms, so every district appears on the ballot in each regular congressional election cycle.

New Jersey’s 7th District

NBC identifies the 7th District as a key House contest. Democrat Rebecca Bennett and Republican Thomas Kean Jr. are listed as the candidates.

Bennett is seeking the congressional seat as the Democratic candidate. Kean is seeking the same seat as the Republican candidate and is listed as the district’s current representative.

Recent presidential voting

New Jersey supported the Democratic presidential nominee in each of the past three presidential elections. In 2024, Kamala Harris received 51.8% of the state’s vote, compared with 45.9% for Donald Trump, a margin of 5.9 percentage points.

The Democratic share was 57.3% in 2020 and 55.5% in 2016. The Republican share was 41.4% in both elections. Those presidential results describe past statewide voting and do not determine the outcome of the 2026 Senate or House contests.
