Federal races

Mississippi voters will choose one U.S. senator and members of all four U.S. House districts on Nov. 3, 2026. The Senate term is six years, while every House district returns to the ballot every two years.

The NBC News election page lists Democratic candidate Scott Colom in the Senate contest. It also lists Republican candidate Cindy Hyde-Smith, the incumbent. The page includes links to the Senate and House primary contests but does not list primary dates.

Mississippi has four congressional districts. The current representatives listed are Trent Kelly in District 1, Bennie Thompson in District 2, Michael Guest in District 3 and Mike Ezell in District 4. Kelly, Guest and Ezell are Republicans, while Thompson is a Democrat.

Mississippi’s recent presidential vote

Republican presidential candidates received a larger share of Mississippi’s vote than Democratic candidates in each of the past three presidential elections.

In 2024, Donald Trump received 60.9% of the Mississippi vote and Kamala Harris received 38%. Trump’s margin was 22.9 percentage points, and Mississippi carried six electoral votes.

In 2020, the Republican share was 57.5%, compared with 41% for the Democratic candidate. In 2016, the Republican share was 57.9%, while the Democratic share was 40.1%.

Those presidential results describe statewide voting in past elections. The 2026 contests will determine Mississippi’s U.S. senator and its representation across four separate House districts.
