What to know about Mississippi’s 2026 elections

Mississippi voters will choose a U.S. senator and representatives for each of the state’s four congressional districts on Nov. 3, 2026. The Senate winner will serve a six-year term, while the four U.S. House winners will serve two-year terms.

U.S. Senate race

The 2026 Mississippi election page lists Democrat Scott Colom in the Senate contest. It also lists Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith, the incumbent senator seeking the seat.

Mississippi’s other sitting U.S. senator is Republican Roger Wicker. That seat is not identified as part of the 2026 contest.

Four U.S. House districts

All four of Mississippi’s congressional districts are scheduled to hold elections in 2026. The current officeholders are Republican Trent Kelly in District 1, Democrat Bennie Thompson in District 2, Republican Michael Guest in District 3 and Republican Mike Ezell in District 4.

Those names describe the current delegation rather than a list of candidates for the 2026 House contests. Voters will need to follow the primary contests and general-election ballots to see who competes in each district.

Mississippi’s presidential voting history

Republican Donald Trump received 60.9% of Mississippi’s 2024 presidential vote, while Democrat Kamala Harris received 38%. Trump’s statewide margin was 22.9 percentage points.

In 2020, the Republican presidential share was 57.5% and the Democratic share was 41%. In 2016, Republicans received 57.9% and Democrats received 40.1%.
